...[referring
to] the Lex dream.
I was thinking about the blood at the very end and how
blood is a symbol of life 'for blood is the life' or something
like that and how a rain of blood would be a waist of
that life. Also one of the signs of the Apocalypse being
a rain of blood. since Lex is standing in a field of skulls
and scorched earth. could be the death of everything good.
the flowers wither. i agree with the interpretation that
everything he touches dies or is destroyed despite all
good intentions on his part. or not the one gloved hand
comes from the comic book. supposedly Lex eventually makes
a kryptonite ring to make superman weak when he is near
him but the ring gives him cancer and his hand has to
be amputated. Lex sees himself as always reaching out
to others but having his hand slapped away or ignored
or sneered at. in this case the flowers die. in the end
he sees himself as a good guy but everything works against
him almost as if fate were mocking him.

| On the orange
windows and referring to your quote about 'recalling
the treasures of life...', here's my take: Lex misses his
mother. Whenever she's spoken of, he has a split second
of wistfulness/happiness on his face b/c he is remembering
her. (see reference to trip to Morocco with the St. George
box.) The orange shines on him to let him remember her.
And what if the red during the "duel" with him and daddy
is also her love spilling on him to protect him from Lionel?
Eyes are windows to the soul, so why can't they be eyes
for a soul who's passed? |
