::a
few notes on stained glass colors:: |
| red
- "So it may be said that pure red is the color of divine love,
of the Holy Spirit, of courage, self-sacrifice, martyrdom, and all
the warm impulses that belong to the greathearted everywhere. red
is the warm, active color."* // There are a lot of red panes
in Lex's windows. as far as the above qualities of red, I don't really
see a clear connection to Lex. "warm impulses" and courage
maybe... in the papa Luthor/Lex duel the red of the glass is reflected
all over Lex's white fencing wear. but I tend to see the red panes
as just that - the red colored violence - or pain (he.he.) - Lex will
eventually inflict on his victims. Sometimes the light comes through
the red glass and makes him look bathed in blood. a regular vlad the
impaler we have here folks... |
| orange
- "as [yellow] merges into ... orange, it recalls the good treasures
of the earth."* ah, I don't know about this one... |

|
violet/purple
-
"uniting the 'wisdom' and 'love' symbolized by blue and red,
is the symbol of justice and of royalty. Purple also stands for suffering
and mystery and was the glassman's color for black, expressing negation,
mourning, and death."* // sure, ok. the royalty element works
well with Lex, as well as the whole black glass aspect. |

clear
panes -
there is no info on the use of clear panes in the "glassman"'s
palette, but I would assume this type would imply a sort of open view
or maybe an undecided/neutral outlook. this would go along with the
whole middle of the road, not yet evil Lex. or maybe the windows are
symbolic of shedding a clear light on his personality. |

...or
than again maybe they are just windows...
