::yellow:: |
| can
mean: joy, happiness, optimism, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine,
summer, gold, philosophy, dishonesty, cowardice, betrayal, jealousy,
covetousness, deceit, illness, hazard // ok, I know Lex's hourglass
suit is technically white, but the vision begins with a strong yellow
glow to his suit, and then changes to a pure white as the sunflowers
die. so most of the above interpretations fit into this first section
quite well. President Lex is joyful, happy, optimistic... he is shown
in a sunny summer- like and golden environment, but we also know this
is cunning and manipulative Lex, bringing dishonesty, betrayal etc.
into the mix. |

::blue::
|
|
|
can
mean: peace, tranquility, calm, stability, harmony, unity, trust,
truth, confidence, security, loyalty, depression. In the Middle East
blue is a protective color, (I think this idea works well here.) //
the blue in question is the dark blue shirt Lex wears when he meets
Cassandra for the first time. as the scene begins Lex hold a tiny
flower, somewhat peaceful i suppose. lex comes searching for answers
so truth works well. he is very confident in the way he overtly asks
questions about clark. as the scene progresses he seems to get more
and more anxious especially when Cassandra holds out her hand for
his. the calm and stability of blue becomes a mask for his inner disharmony.
Lex also wears this shirt in the car memento scene with Clark. the
structure of this exchange echoes the Cassandra meeting. Lex asks
questions, Clark doesn't give the answers Lex wants to hear, Clark
switches the focus onto Lex and his obsession with the past (as Cassandra
had urged Lex to confront the future) and the scene ends with Lex
looking unsettled. |

"Blue
has remained the symbol of fidelity till our times, as fidelity can
be proven only from distance, where the opportunity for unfaithfulness
awaits. Blue flowers, such as forget-me-nots and violets symbolize
faithfulness."*// Lex's wearing the color blue and the small
violet blue flower he holds at the beginning of the Cassandra scene
would imply he was a true believer in her powers. |
